Immediate – 24 hours
In the first 24 hours after your treatment, your teeth will be a lot more susceptible to staining than they would have before the treatment. There are a few things that you need to avoid in the 24 hours following your whitening treatment:

– Dark staining drinks like coffee, tea, red wine and any smoothies made from dark fruits
– Any food or drink that would leave a stain on white clothing should be avoided entirely
– Toothpaste that is any colour except white
After Care: What can I eat in the first 24 hours?
There are still lots of things you can eat and drink in the first 24 hours after your treatment. This does not mean you need to stop eating and drinking. some of the things you can eat are as follows:
– White meat, like chicken or turkey
– White rice
– White potatoes
– White pasta
– White cheese
– Crustless white bread
Long term After Care Process
The long term after care is something that is a little bit harder to maintain. It isn’t realistic to avoid foods that stain for the rest of your life, but there are a few things that you can do to ensure your teeth stay white for as long as possible after your treatment.
Practice good dental hygiene
Regular brushing and flossing will not only keep your dentist happy – it will help your teeth whitening treatment last for longer.
It may sound ridiculous but countless celebrities use straws when they drink staining drinks. It may not look the most attractive in a coffee shop or bar but it will ensure that your teeth stay white.
Try not to be attracted to cheap whitening solutions
A lot of at home whitening solutions are not regulated and contain chemicals that are harmful to your teeth. They may whiten them in the short term – but they will do a lot of long term damage. Do not be tempted to top up your treatment with these.
